Court summons Salman Khan
After allegations that Mumbai police were intentionally delaying the trial to offer protection to Salman Khan, the actor has now been issued summons to look in court on the end of this month

The Bandra court issued summons and a show-cause notice to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the Mumbai police on Monday, following delays within the trial of the Bollywood actor in a 2002 hit-and-run case. At a press conference last month, lawyer Abha Singh had briefed the media about how Khan was manipulating the case with the assistance of the police.

Singh, a former bureaucrat and wife of former IPS officer Y P Singh had filed a petition within the Bandra court on November 2, and argued that while trials were promptly concluded in other sensitive cases, it had dragged on in Khan's case.

The complaint filed by Singh alleged that doctors unrelated to the case have been examined in court throughout the trial, on account of false information provided by the police to be able to cause delays.

On Monday, the extra chief metropolitan court in Bandra issued a notice during the senior inspector of police of the Bandra police station to Khan, asking him to stay present at court on December 27. Magistrate Vilas Patil also issued a notice to the Mumbai police, seeking an evidence for the delay.

Singh had demanded a high-level inquiry, stating that the police were abusing power and violating laws to give protection to Khan. She also showed documents of court proceedings, wherein the trial court had issued summons to 39 witnesses but police didn't serve summons to 24 of them.

`Under Section 193 of IPC, Salman Khan can get seven years' imprisonment. By delaying the case, Mumbai police goes soft on him. Police also are tampering with evidence,` she said.

Besides his busy schedule, the actor is terribly happy playing the doting father to his twins Shahraan and Iqra. He says, `I have found this newfound spirit from my wife to do well. She is an important person in my life. I had once given up on my career and myself and she or he is the explanation why I'M back with a bang. Simply to see my kids as toddlers, then crawling, walking and now talking is unbelievable.`

Speaking fondly of his teenaged daughter Trishala, Dutt says, `I missed these types of moments with Trishala. I wish I had spent a while along with her during her growing-up years but I SUPPOSE God was kind to me.`

It`s fun taking risks in career: Kareeena Kapoor
From her debut with the 2000 film 'Refugee' to her latest release 'Talaash', Kareena Kapoor has come some distance in her decade-long career

The 32-year-old Bollywood A-lister says it's her duty as an actress to dole out numerous films for her fans. "IT'S THE duty of an actor to try and pick up different roles, be somewhat brave concerning the whole thing.

Sometimes films will work and often they will not. It's fun taking risks. I SIMPLY CANNOT just keep looking pretty and doing a song-and-dance film," Kareena told in an interview. The actress said people had asked her to not play Riana Briganza in Shakun Batra's 'Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu' earlier this year, because the film was slightly unconventional.

"When I USED TO BE doing 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu', everyone said it's slightly non-commercial, because the boy doesn't get the woman in any case. I only did the film because people were saying that. I told Shakun that in the event you change the top of this movie, I AM NOT doing it.

That was me. I WISHED to do Riana Briganza and wanted my year to finish with something totally bizarre like 'Talaash'. I'm proud of both," said Kareena. This year have been quite colourful for Kareena.

While in Aamir Khan starrer 'Talaash' she played the spirit of a prostitute, Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Heroine' had her star as a Bollywood actress. Kareena also turned out as an ISI agent in 'Agent Vinod' and can be next seen in a item number in 'Dabangg 2'.

"I always attempt to balance the mass-oriented films with the opposite kinds. My fans like to see me in commercial stuff as well, for that there's the item song 'Fevicol se' that I'VE done for 'Dabangg 2'.

"It's nice to do a job like Rosie in Talaash, who's so sensitive, and then something like this song. People should see that i'm looking to do various things and never just confidently doing my very own thing or repeating the same," she said.

The explanation didn't cut much ice with Dev Saab's son Suniel Anand who seemed pretty upset with the best way his father's memory was being served.

Says Suniel, `I was getting calls and messages from admirers and friends of my dad the entire day on Monday. It would've made sense to have his sculpture unveiled at the day he passed on to the great beyond. Why an afternoon after? I'm clueless. `

Suniel says he attempted to seek out out, but was stonewalled by UTV Stars. `I should've been kept within the loop, and that i tried very hard. But I USED TO BE not told anything. There is a gentleman named Shiv Menon at UTV Stars whom I USED TO BE purported to co-ordinate with.

When I asked him why the memorial sculpture was being unveiled an afternoon late he told me it was a part of their business plan. I'm sorry I DO NOT get. How can my father's death anniversary fall consistent with a marketing strategy?`

Shiv Menon of UTV Stars said, `The only reason we decided to honour Dev Saab an afternoon late is because we needed to offer his family space and private time to keep in mind the nice man on his death anniversary. Also, we would have liked to ask a few of his colleagues and shut associates. `
