Pleads guilty in smoking case
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor Thursday pleaded guilty, through his lawyers, to charges of smoking publicly during a film shoot in Rajasthan's Udaipur district about four months ago and sought exemption from personal appearance within the case, a lawyer said.
Kapoor, who was represented by three lawyers, have been accused of publicly smoking at Ghangaur Ghat in Udaipur March 28.
"Harish Vaishanav had approached the court saying that the actor violated the law by smoking publicly. The court issued a summon to the actor May 31. The summon was brought to his house in Mumbai by police recently," said advocate K.K. Purohit, who represented the actor within the court Thursday.
"We filed an application pleading guilty to the costs under the Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act and seeking exemption for Kapoor's personal appearance before the court," said Purohit.
Purohit pleaded that the offence was mistakenly done by the actor and he (Kapoor) has assured the court that this sort of thing wouldn't be repeated again.
The court has fixed Aug 27 for the following hearing within the case, he added.
The additional chief judicial magistrate had summoned Kapoor to seem before his court July 26 on a complaint that he publicly smoked through the shooting of his movie "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" within the town, some 300 km from Jaipur.
According to a Rajasthan law, an offender could face maximum imprisonment of six months or a maximum fine of Rs.200 for smoking in public.
"I could be like Zohra Sehgal and can be working till I'M 90. IT'S NOT THAT I AM giving up this place easily. I'M sure that by then I'LL BE happy and content," she said.
Meanwhile, the actress is gearing up for the discharge of her new film "Heroine", which delves into the upward thrust and fall of an actress. It releases Sep 21.

"It can be a major time show. I CANNOT inform you the precise slot because we're in discussion we're brain storming the appropriate time. But certainly it will likely be a chief time slot," Sony Entertainment Television (SET) senior vice chairman and marketing head Danish Khan told.
"We haven't decided the times however the talks are on. We can soon make an official announcement," he added.
KBC have been slotted for either 8.30 or 9 p.m. time band so far.
The channel Thursday announced yet one more marketing and communication campaign "Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dila Sakta Hai" because the communication theme for the approaching season of the sport show.
"The challenge was how can we take the philosophy to the following level. We came up with 'Gyaan hi aapko aapka haq dilata Hai' because it is a great factor to empower people. Whilst you see the show you can find shades of that," said Khan.
"One of an important a part of the show is how we democratise all the KBC. We have now taken immense pain with lot of enjoyment in order for we expand the bottom of KBC. Each time you'll see KBC episode, one can find a small India."
Big B, who have been hosting various seasons of KBC for quite some time, can be seen again for the KBC 2012 in addition. Khan says they can not recall to mind anyone else in his place.

The 39-year-old cringed upon being asked how he managed to crack the "formula" within the first go.
"See... honestly, if something goes wrongtomorrow, you'll say 'What went wrong?' It's common! So in preference to basking within the limelight and saying 'Hey listen, everything is fine', the key is to continue doing good work," John told.
"I think the formula could be very simple so far as I'M concerned. As an individual, I THINK I DO KNOW what makes the youth happy relating to films, and that i need to make films for young people, who can go and say 'Hey, that is really nice, this was a large number of fun and sensible too.' So that is the space I WOULD LIKE to function now and i'm enjoying that space," he added.
It's unconventional for actors-turned-producers to let newcomers take centrestage, but John didn't consider carefully about letting Ayushmann Khurrana act in "Vicky Donor", a movie with a subject matter as strong as sperm donation. The reason?
"I desired to be a hands-on producer. Most actors produce films that they simply act in. I WISHED to verify I make films that I FEEL in, even though the solid is otherwise. And i've numerous faith in Ayushmann. I'M producing another film with him. He's a completely talented and entirely a gem of a boy," said John, who has cast Ayushmann for one more film named "Hamara Bajaj".
There are few other films within the making under John's banner, he said. " 'Jaffna'was a movie within the making for approximately two years. As a result of 'Jaffna', 'VickyDonor' happened. That was a movie Shoojit Sircar and that i were engaged on. 'HamaraBajaj' was also a movie Shoojit was planning to make with a newcomer, so we decided to take Ayushmann in it."
"The fourth film is 'Kala Ghoda'. Besides this, we're making three more films, which we will be able to announce later," John said.
It might be an excellent mixture of films, but primarily "commercial films with smaller budgets".
"The important thing is casting them right. These days, people make proposals, not films! So the key is to make good cinema. If 'Vicky Donor' is a benchmark, then I SUPPOSE people know the type of films I NEED to make," he said.
Nazia, who was making news on her family connections, acknowledges to being compared with dynamic actress Preity Zinta but strives to create her own persona.
`I have always been compared with Preity Zinta. That may be a huge compliment; she is beautiful, but I NEED people to love me for my own!` says the dimpled Nazia.
Aditya Samanta, grand son of filmmaker Shakti Samanta, her co-star within the Movie Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai, comments, `I always had a secret crush for Preity Zinta. Folks that have seen the promos and the trailers feel that Nazia and me share a really perfect chemistry and look good together.

While shooting for Yeh Jo Mohobbat Hai that they had a heavy schedule in Udaipur. Nazia didn't know the streets and bylanes really well and yet didn't want to overlook her daily cardio.
She coaxed co- star Aditya Samanta to return together with her for a sprint early within the morning. She used to provide him a get up call every morning at 5am and so they used to head jogging, exploring the town in a sense.

I am superstitious about shifting right into a house as its first owner. Secondly, it's the same building that I stay in so everything is kind of set. I'LL BE shifting into the flat by Diwali or by early next year.`
Shreyas, however, refuses to divulge how much he paid for this apartment.
He says, `I would say it's quite a steal for me considering I got everything that I NEEDED and that too within the same building that i'm staying in.
I have two dogs Don and Knight and we're designing everything keeping them in mind. In fact, we joke that the brand new flat is for them and never for us (laughs). My cousin Mohnish Talpade and my wife Dipti are designing the flat.`
