Irrfan in light-hearted role as Fanney KhanIrrfan could have dropped his surname Khan but, like success, the Khan tag appears to be following him. The critically acclaimed actor is ready to play Fanney Khan in a country love story directed by Shivam Nair and produced by Anjum Rizvi.

Talking of Irrfan's role, Nair said: "His is an overly entertaining character. After Paan Singh Tomar, he plays a gentle hearted fictitious character called Fanney Khan who's a member of Saraswati Brass band that goes for weddings in Lucknow.

"He keeps on checking and wooing girls attending the marriage. People will see him in a gentle role after a protracted gap."

In the film, Irrfan might be seen opposite Aditi Rao Hydari, who was last seen because the lead in "London, Paris, New York".

To be shot in Lucknow, the film can have earthy rustic language and flavour to the entire film.
