Nargis Fakhri, who played the feminine lead opposite Ranbir Kapoor in 'Rockstar', says she never desired to become an actress
She was happy walking international runways as a model when 'Rockstar' happened. Born to a Czech mother and a Pakistani father, Nargis made a much-hyped debut on the age of 32 with the film.
The model-turned-actress says she has no regrets entering Bollywood late in her career as acting was never on her agenda.
"Acting was never at the agenda, so I BELIEVE 'Rockstar' happened on the right time. I WOULD NOT be here if it wasn't for 'Rockstar'.
I has been modeling since I USED TO BE 16. I'M very new to the film industry and while I thoroughly enjoy my new job, there's still so much for me to learn, " Nargis told.
Even though her performance as Heer Kaul in 'Rockstar' met with criticism, the newbie actress remains undeterred, saying the comments have helped her overcome flaws.
"I take care of the criticism the similar way I handle the praise. I'M an excessively positive person and when people criticize it helps me overcome my flaws. I'M very new to this industry so I take it as an experience and feel motivated to do better, " she said.
'Rockstar' came out in November 2011 and Nargis is yet to sign another film, saying that she is looking forward to the fitting project.
"After being part of a movie like 'Rockstar', my next project should be pretty much as good or better. I'VE read some great scripts and that i think we will be able to announce something soon.
I was in no hurry to sign something. I WISHED to attend for something exciting, and if that meant looking forward to a while, then so be it, " she said.
Nargis was not an active a part of promotions of 'Rockstar' or even after the discharge she didn't expose herself to the media hype. The actress says she stayed clear of the limelight to protect her personal life.
"I don't believe I'M an introvert in any respect. But I'M guarded about my personal life and that i think that's important whilst you work on this industry."
Despite being exposed to the arena of show business as a model, Nargis says she was not prepared for the type of attention she got post the film's release.
"Nothing can prepare you for this. I still get very nervous once I need to face lots of people. It freaks me out to peer such a lot of people in front of me, calling out my name, " she said.
And she could also be acutely aware of the pressure that comes in conjunction with the eye. "THIS CAN BE A big achievement to be recognized within the Indian film fraternity because it has such great talents.
But there may be also a large number of responsibility that comes along, a large number of pressure about what your next project is, the way you look, speak, act etc, " Nargis said.
