A street hoarding of Saif Ali Khan's forthcoming spy thriller needed to be pulled down after it caused an accident at the road
Saif Ali Khan is also on his approach to becoming the poster boy of spy films in India, but one of the crucial commuters on Mahim Causeway are buying it.
A 32/72 feet hoarding of Mr Khan holding two guns was distracting pedestrians and men behind wheels such a lot on that exact stretch of road that it has even resulted in a couple of minor accidents. Such a lot in order that it resulted within the local municipal authorities asking the producers to bring down the hoarding.
Says a source, "The hoarding is put on a road that ends up in the Western Express Highway and Bandra Masjid. It is a very busy road and hence was causing a large number of complications as a result of its sheer size. In fact, two cars banged against each other, but thankfully nothing worse happened."
The hoarding, that's by far the biggest for any Hindi film till date have been positioned instantaneous for over a week, garnering the film a large number of eyeballs. However, the publicity was short lived considering the producers chose to stick clear of running into trouble with the authorities.
Says producer Dinesh Vijan, "We realised that it will become a hazard because the commuters were paying more attention to the hoarding than the turn ahead. So within the interest of road safety, we decided to switch the creative."
The film has apparently spent more cash on outdoor creative campaigns than most Bollywood ventures. This actual space, which cost the producers over Rs 12 lakhs however is not going to go waste.
Adds Rajan Ahuja who was answerable for the campaigns, "THERE HAS BEEN just a little money lost within the installing and removing of the hoarding, but now we have placed another smaller poster there so the distance doesn't get wasted completely."
