I had essentially the most horrible time working with Sanjay Dutt: RGV
'Department' has Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Dagubbati within the lead besides Anjana Sukhani and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles. The film released on May 18 and was panned by critics.
Reportedly made at the cheap of Rs 30 crore, the film has thus far earned Rs seven crore on the box office. "Whatever else is going on to 'Department' but I'M supremely happy that I won't see the faces of Sanjay Dutt and Dharam Oberoi (CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions) for the remainder of my life," Varma tweeted.
While the shooting of the film was going on, there have been reports that both Varma and Dutt were at loggerheads. However, during media interactions both denied it.
"From forcing me to take Kangana (Kangana Ranaut) out of the film to constantly cornering me to switch screenplay, I had essentially the most horrible time working with Dutt," Varma said.
Both Dutt and Oberoi too had expressed displeasure over the way in which the film was handled by Varma. "If Dutt and Oberoi think I'M the bad in 'Department' lets stay up for 'Zilla Ghaziabad' and Soham's film where I'M REALLY NOT there to spoil their creative inputs," Varma said.
