‘Proud to peer Madhuri as a judge’

`Proud to see Madhuri as a judge`Saroj Khan on her favourite student Madhuri Dixit as they interact again after a hiatus

It was yesterday over again for Madhuri Dixit and Saroj Khan because the duo got together to shoot for the promos of a dance reality show at Filmistan Studios over the weekend.

The actress and the choreographer share a distinct bond that goes back to when Mads was an upcoming actress and Saroj a number one choreographer.

The two feels that the music’s beats connect them. The veteran choreographer has always admitted that Madhuri have been her favourite. In line with her, Mads understands the stairs exactly and how she wants them to be done — even before she will be able to fully explain it. Or even today, the star feels guilty if she skips a step in front of her guru!

About working with Madhuri again after a hiatus, Saroj says, “It feels exactly the way you feel when your child comes back from boarding school. I'VE seen her grow from her Ek Do Teen days and i'm proud to look my student as a judge for a dance show.”

She adds, “I have had an opportunity to work during the past several decades. In earlier days, expressions and movements defined a choreographer’s style. That is what Madhuri and that i are bringing alive. Nobody can beat her expressions.”

For the two-day shoot, the Dhak Dhak star would begin filming for every segment by touching Saroj’s feet while the latter showered each piece of attention on her special student.

Each shot was okayed only after the choreographer was satisfied and with Mads it wasn’t so particularly difficult — as she always got everything right in a single take!

For the promos, the choreographer has made Madhuri dance to songs of actresses including Meena Kumari, Mumtaz and Sridevi.

Off to the U.S.

Immediately after the shoot, Madhuri Dixit left for the US for a family holiday. The actress is slated to go back by May-end when the shooting for the show starts. To this point Mads only was confirmed while the search for the other two star judges remains to be on.
