The 63-year-old director said that Leone did justice to her character of a porn star within the film and audience could be capable of better relate to the character.
"Film's central character is a woman who's living on a picture created by marketing her anatomy. This woman needed to be part of the porn industry. We were very clear from the very beginning that our protagonist would proudly proclaim - 'I am a porn star'. This was going to be her story and we couldn't compromise at the basic setting. It needed to be Sunny, " Bhatt said.
The producer says he desired to rope in an actress who didn't have inhibitions about doing bold scenes.
"By roping in an ordinary Bollywood leading lady, we'd have needed to restrict ourselves to only two-three erotic scenes in an effort to please audience. That may was unfair to the subject, " he said.
"Why can't Sunny deserve a spot under the sun and be a quintessential feature film actress? Nobody can and will form an opinion a few creative person before seeing his or her work.
"Yes, we've seen Sunny's acts within the adult films. However movies are a distinct ballgame altogether. Our company carries certain credibility in the case of believing in newcomers and giving them the correct platform.
Even Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham were newcomers once they were found a platform with 'Naam' and 'Jism', " he said. 'Jism 2' will hit theatres today and it also stars Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda within the prominent roles.
