Social worker Ravindra Brahme (40) has lodged a case against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for disrespecting the national flag during the celebrations that followed the Indian cricket team's victory on this planet Cup final hung on on April 2, 2011.
Brahme had recently lodged a case against model Gehna Vashist on the Deccan Gymkhana police station for dishonouring the Tricolour by using it as a bikini in a photoshoot in Mumbai. Gehna was arrested by officials of the Deccan Gymkhana police station on Saturday.
`We have decided to begin a movement against individuals who show disrespect to the Indian flag and if we discover such people, we can start registering complaints against them without contemplating their stature,` Brahme said.
`In SRK's case, I USED TO BE surfing the online and on one website I DISCOVERED some pictures wherein he was waving the Indian flag in Mumbai after India won the cricket World Cup on April 2, 2011. While waving the flag, he ignored the truth that saffron colour was on the bottom and the golf green colour was on top.`
Police Inspector (Crime) Subhash Nikam of the Chatushringi police station, said: `We have registered the case against Shah Rukh Khan under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour (Amendment) Act on August 14 after Brahme approached us.
Since the incident had taken place in Mumbai, the case have been transferred to the Bandra police station and the police there may be investigating the problem further.`
