But what binds the 2 together is their earnest struggle to recuperate on the national language ... while Kat grew up in Hawaii, Marzi is the quintessential Bawa.
The two had barely spoken any Hindi before their entertainment careers took off. Moreover, the 2 are great friends as Marzi has choreographed Kat in lots of films.
So when Katrina landed up with Salman Khan to advertise their upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger at the sets of DID L'il Masters, the 2 had plenty to bond over.
While Salman joined grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty in pulling Marzi's leg over his terrible Hindi, Kat couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
When Salman joked that Zee TV would have to use subtitles to decode what Marzi says when he attempts Hindi, Katrina defended him saying his efforts to talk better Hindi in each episode were worth lauding.
Apparently, the actress has often been on the receiving end of comparable jokes about her Hindi and so could easily empathize with him.
But Salman being the prankster caught onto a Hindi phrase that Katrina said when he and Mithun Da were ragging Marzi beyond a limit over his poor knowledge of Hindi. Katrina quoted a phrase she had heard that defined their ragging and said, `Aap Marzi ko itna chidhate hai jaise koi ek chipkali ko khichke magarmach banate hai (You tease Marzi such a lot as though you're stretching a lizard to become a crocodile).`
Both Salman and Mithun Da jumped in and hounded Marzi saying Katrina had called him a chipkali resulting in a laughter riot at the sets.
In the process the episode when she started commenting at the contestants' acts in English, Katrina found Salman egging the youngsters directly to ask her to copy her comments in Hindi.
A flustered Kat did her best to translate her comments within the simplest hindi possible, much to the amusement of the audience.
The episode may be aired this Sunday.
