It was poet-thinker Harindanath Chattopadhyay who said, “It’s very difficult to be simple.” By that logic, Katrina’s most difficult role is in Ek Tha Tiger.
Director Kabir Khan, who had earlier insisted on a no-make-up search for Katrina within the film New York, has gone even further and insisted that she wear clothes from her own wardrobe for this film. Katrina’s not complaining either.
A friend of the actor says, “Katrina loves dressing in casuals. She hates getting dolled up and wearing makeup. She is all smiles throughout the Ek Tha Tiger shoots.”
Interestingly, it’s the other for Katrina in her forthcoming Yashraj film opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Says a source just about the actress, “She is dressed like an ordinary city girl in Ek Tha Tiger. It’s the ‘real’ her, the way in which she is off screen. She even dug into her own wardrobe for this part. For Yashji’s film, however, Katrina have been given a sublime appearance, so even a ‘casual’ song within the park is being worked upon in great detail.”
Apparently Yash Chopra is adamant on transforming her into the archetypal Yash Chopra heroine.
In fact, Gulzar has penned a paean to Katrina’s beauty and the song have been composed by AR Rahman. Says our source, “It’s Gulzar saab’s most romantic song since Jab Bhi Yeh Dil Udaas Hota Hai. And it can’t be sung to Katrina in torn jeans and a floppy top.”
Apparently Yashji have been telling friends that the affection song Shah Rukh sings to Katrina is essentially the most romantic number he has shot since Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein.
A source on the subject of both the projects says, “The difference between Katrina’s look in Ek Tha Tiger and Yashji’s film is the variation between the lady round the corner and the lady round the corner to probably the most romantic guy.”
Katrina’s role in Ek Tha Tiger is minimalist in every sense — her character doesn’t speak much, either.
