Women not playing diverse roles on TV: Shweta Tiwari

Women not playing diverse roles on TV: Shweta Tiwari
She enjoyed being the favorite next-door-girl in "Kasautii Zindagii Kay", the primary female winner of reality show"Bigg Boss" and now a strict mom in "Parvarrish - Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi". But Shweta Tiwari feels women don't get to play diverse roles in TV shows.

"What I see is that girls don't seem to be portraying too many characters or shades on screen. They're playing sweet, simple and nice roles. That's the only thing they do until they play a negative role, " Shweta told.

"If you notice 'Balika Vadhu' she is similar. 'Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka' may be the similar. If you happen to see another show, all of the leads look identically the similar. No person is doing anything different, " she said.

However, Shweta feels that her character of Sweety in "Parvarrish......" is correct to real life and has the entire shades of life.

"Sweety is from time to time mean and selfish but now and then she has her own rules. She is going to not do wrong to you but can even not let anyone do wrong to her. Such characters are real characters, which aren't shown on television to any extent further. It's there in Bollywood, but no person likes them on this industry (television). I BELIEVE this transformation must be there."

The 31-year-old was also a part of the truth show "Bigg Boss 4" and when asked if there may be an overdose of reality, Shweta feels otherwise.

"I think there has been an overdose of reality shows, but now it's less. Now there are only a few selected ones left that have established themselves; and if people need fiction then additionally they need reality. I SUPPOSE there may be 'Big Boss', 'Dance India Dance' and shows like 'Indian Idol'. The remainder of them have fizzled out.

"Earlier, there was so many, like 'Kitchen King' and 'Chote Miya'."

"Parvarrish - Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi" was coping with parenting and the training system. Shweta says parents became more flexible now compared to earlier.

"What I BELIEVE is that folks became more cool now. In our times, we were told to be told and mug up. We were told to become doctors and engineers. However, that isn't the case now. People need to opt for international learning. They know that their children need to do something. People don't have a look at marks but at how much children know, " said Shweta, who has a daughter, Palak.

The actress, who's seeking divorce from her husband Raja Chaudhary, has a word of recommendation for parents.

"Parents should understand if their child may be capable of fight with the issues on the way to are available in future or not. They need to prepare their kids to stand problems, " Shweta said.
