"In spite of him (Saif Ali Khan) having worked so much, he's still someone who fits these young love stories and romantic characters, " Deepika, 26, told.
"Cockatil", directed by Homi Adajania, revolves across the lives of 3 friends - Veronica, Gautam and Meera, played by Deepika, Saif and newcomer Diana Penty, respectively.
Deepika, who might be seen as a confident and fun-loving girl within the film, says the nature was challenging and she or he needed inner confidence to play it.
"I remember I USED TO BE in Mauritius two years ago once I got the script. I felt that I USED TO BE able to play Veronica. I knew I WANTED inner confidence so as to pull it off for the reason that character could get it wrong in lots of ways, " she said.
Explaining the background of her character, she said: "Veronica is feisty, but not a rebel. She has grown up in a broken family, so she has not got the traditional love of oldsters while growing up. So she loves to be surrounded by people probably to get her mind off other things."
"Cocktail" is releasing Friday.
