Sohail Khan`s car crushes woman to death

Sohail Khan`s car crushes woman to death
Bollywood actor and producer Sohail Khan’s car crushed a 70-year-old woman to death in Mumbai on Sunday night.

Khan however was not within the SUV and it was being driven by his driver Dhananjaya Pimpale, who was arrested later.

The accident happened at around 11 pm on Sunday night near the St Andrews Church in Bandra when the auto was returning to Khan’s residence.

The Land Cruiser was negotiating a turn when it hit the woman, a witness said, while another alleged that the SUV didn't stop following the accident.

Another eyewitness, who said he and a constable rushed the victim to the hospital, accused authorities on the Bhabha Hospital of not getting to her or around half-an-hour.

The woman, identified as Chandan Bala, was later declared dead on the hospital.

Police have charged 46-year-old Pimpale negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder and he's expected to be produced in court on Monday.

Preliminary investigations showed the driving force had not been drinking, but a medical report on his blood and urine samples is awaited, the police said.

They added that although Sohail Khan was not within the car, his statement might be recorded because the car belongs to him.

In 2002, Khan’s older brother Salman Khan was booked for rash driving after he ran his SUV over pavement dwellers, killing one and injuring four others.
