`Blood Money` not an erotic thriller: Mahesh Bhatt

`Blood Money` not an erotic thriller: Mahesh BhattThe leaked intimate scene from 'Blood Money' was not marketing strategy, says Mahesh Bhatt adding that the film doesn't belong to the erotic thrillers genre like 'Murder' and 'Jism'.

"I am not happy. One among our over-enthusiastic PR person thought that leaking it will benefit the film. But these items send a wrong signal about. I USED TO BE never apologetic in regards to the types of films we make. Like 'Murder' and 'Jism' are erotic thrillers. But, 'Blood Money' isn't a made of that profile," the 63-year-old said here while promoting the film at a radio station.

"Because of those wrong signals, people think there's a lot of erotica within the film. Someone who doesn't like watching most of these films won't come and someone who will come expecting erotica might be disappointed. I FEEL it has done us more harm than good," he added.

Directed by Vishal Mahadkar, 'Blood Money' stars Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri and hits theatres March 30.

Meanwhile, comparisons are being drawn between 'Blood Money' and Bhatt's 1986 film 'Naam' as both films speak about a middle-class boy who treads the inaccurate path in his pursuit to earn money.

The filmmaker says that they're similar, but only to an extent as both are about sin-money.

"'Naam' handled lower, middle-class Indian dream. Those were the times in 1980s, when everybody thought that when you reach Dubai or Middle-East, you were guaranteed a decent, secure way of living. But 'Blood Money' deals with a rather upper strata. It talks a couple of one who has dreams in his eyes and the sector of Rolls Royce and luxurious homes. Nevertheless it is all built on something that is sin-money," said Bhatt who's also gearing up for 'Jism 2'.

Amrita Puri graduates to lead role with `Blood Money`

Amrita Puri graduates to lead role with `Blood Money`After playing a plain Jane in 'Aisha', actress Amrita Puri is prepared to make a comeback of varieties with 'Blood Money' so one can see her portraying the role of a modern girl.

The petite star had disappeared after wowing critics together with her small role within the chick-flick but she is excited to have graduated to guide role within the Bhatts' latest outing.

"I needed to work really hard to damage people perceptions after 'Aisha'. I DETERMINED to attend some time rather than continuing with acting. On this industry you get stereotyped very soon. I USED TO BE getting similar roles post 'Aisha'. So, I MADE UP MY MIND to attend for a greater offer and it paid off once I was approached for 'Blood Money'," Amrita told.

When it came to acting, the actress said she really desired to be certain that about her next movie assignment. "I ACTUALLY wanted something which was meaty and inventive. I'M being picky about my roles. It was almost a year after 'Aisha' that I consented to do 'Blood Money'. It wasn't as though I USED TO BE looking only at leading roles but then it needed to live as much as the factors that I had set for myself after 'Aisha'."

'Blood Money' provided her a platform to move solo opposite Kunal Khemu. However, Amrita was initially reluctant to step into the role because Bhatt's leading ladies are known for his or her liberal skin show.

"When I USED TO BE told that I needed to play an easy girl, I ASSUMED of giving it a shot. I said to myself - 'What's the harm in auditioning on the least'. I went there and gave the audition. Once done, I came back home without expecting any call from them. However, I heard from them the very next day and was signed there and then."

Madhuri inspires Chitrangada`s look in `Kaafirana`

Madhuri inspires Chitrangada`s look in `Kaafirana`Chitrangada Singh, who has done an item-song for Shirish Kunder's 'Joker', says her look within the song is encouraged by Madhuri Dixit's within the song Humko aajkal hai from 'Sailaab'

"I do not like to name it an item song, this is a dance performance that I'VE done for the film. It's called Kaafirana... and it is extremely rustic, very 1980s in its look and this is a bit of Madhuri from 'Sailaab', that is the more or less look that we've got been inspired from," said Chitrangada.

"It has somewhat laavni in it, it's fantastic," the 35-year-old said on the unveiling of the quilt page of men's magazine FHM, which features her.

Chitrangada, who has adorned the duvet page of varied magazines, says print photo shoot is challenging, but jointly comfortable also.

"I think what's good about shooting a print picture is it's essential accomplish that a lot more within that one frame or one shot. You need to look the part, you must have the suitable expression, everything needs to be perfect," said Chitrangada.

"But on the same time, I BELIEVE there's a lot more control if you find yourself doing print so that you are more well-off. If there's something wrong you may get it fixed later, that isn't the last item going out. Whereas for those who do a film, there's one long shot you must give and that is the reason it," she added.

Chitrangada was last seen in 'Desi Boyz' and is currently engaged on 'I, Me Aur Main' opposite John Abraham and a Sudhir Mishra film opposite Arjun Rampal.

Hollywood trainer wants to work with Farhan Akhtar

Hollywood trainer wants to work with Farhan AkhtarHollywood trainer Ed Chow, who trained celebrities like Clive Owen and Lucas Till, says he would like to work with Farhan Akhtar, who have been training hard for his next film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'.

"I was really lucky to satisfy Aishwarya Rai when she was engaged on 'The Last Legion' with Colin Firth. There are actors like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Sara Khan. And I'd love to work with Farhan Akhtar - I've seen a few of his work and that i really liked it," Chow said in an e-mail interaction.

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is a biopic on legendary athlete Milkha Singh and Farhan is currently undergoing special training for his lead role within the movie. Similarly American actress Lynn Collins needed to undergo a hard and fast regime for her role as Dejah Thoris in 'John Carter', releasing in India March 9.

'John Carter' is set a person who gets transported to Mars and gets caught between 12-foot-tall barbarians. Collins plays a princess and her role was quite physical with numerous wirework, stunts and sword fights. So numerous preparation was required from her end, says Chow.

"We worked on ab-workouts and core to organize Lynn for the wirework she had to do for stunts, and free-weights and machines focussing on different parts of the body each session. We also did a large number of plyometrics to make her legs strong," shared Chow.

The celebrity trainer says there has been added take care of Collins' muscles, which made his job tougher.

"(Her character) Dejah Thoris has a large number of tattoos on her body they usually were painted on Lynn each day of filming. We wanted the muscles to really show throughout the tattoos; so we focussed on getting numerous definition in her muscles," he said.

According to Chow, Collins "was very focussed herself".

"She worked out on a daily basis on her days off and most days on set to boot. It wasn't necessary as she had that down herself," he said.

So what's it like training popular faces? "THEY'RE great to coach. Celebrities are very highly motivated, extremely focussed and very hardworking. They are going to work very, very hard to get what they want for a part," he said.

What a few few general fitness tips for those that need to get fit figures like celebrities?

"Fitness is definitely about doing something regularly, each week. It's about making the time to do something - like an exercise or a sport that you just enjoy.

"Diet is vital too - maintaining a healthy diet food, small portions repeatedly an afternoon in place of three big meals an afternoon and keeping carbohydrates down. I do believe in satisfying food cravings nevertheless it must be in proportion. So you probably have a sweet tooth, it's ok to have a small piece of chocolate, but you cannot have an entire chocolate cake," he said.

The actor had on Monday filed for immunity from prosecution before a different Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court.

The actor was granted immunity within the case at the condition that he undergoes a detoxification process. Fardeen had appealed for leniency after completing a de-addiction programme at KEM Hospital recently.

The court, however, held that if the actor was arrested again for the same offence at some point the immunity can be withdrawn.

Fardeen had in October last year been held guilty of trying to buy cocaine in a case dating to 2001, but dropped charges of possessing over two grams of the drug were dropped.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested Khan in Juhu in northwest Mumbai May 5, 2001 on charges of possessing cocaine. Nasir Shaikh who allegedly sold him the drug and Tony Gomes who allegedly supplied it to Shaikh were also arrested.

Charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Khan had, however, claimed that he had attempted to shop for just one gram of cocaine as against NCB claim that nine grams of cocaine was found on him and Shaikh.

According to the NDPS Act, lower than two gm is regarded as a small quantity. Under the act, an accused can, on the maximum, face a six-month jail term for possession of a small quantity of drugs.

Department will be RGV`s most stylish film: Rana Daggubati

Department will be RGV`s most stylish film: Rana DaggubatiRam Gopal Varma's past few projects have did not rock the box office, but actor Rana Daggubati, who has teamed up with the director in 'Department', is confident that the film will transform one in every of his most classy movies.

"Ramu (Varma) dabbles in a large number of genres of flicks. He's superb together with his work, and has a gorgeous storytelling pattern, that is generally trendsetting. His film 'Satya' broke stereotype, and 'Company' gave Vivek Oberoi one of these great launchpad. I FEEL 'Department' could be one among his most fashionable film ever shot," Rana said.

In 'Department', the southern star can be seen as a grungy policeman - a job that was earlier reserved for Abhishek Bachchan. The film's characters include a don, a gangster, a gangster-turned-politician, and shootout specialists. No wonder it was exciting for Rana to work in it!

"I think Ramu is one filmmaker who has complete understanding of the topic he tackles in his films and loves to accumulate extensive knowledge before venturing out into each theme. Be it underworld or another subject, his films speak of the research he does.

"Usually Ramu shoots his films quickly, but he has spent a large number of time on 'Department', that's great. It is a project with regards to him, and it's been an improbable experience working with him," he added.

Rana, who made his Bollywood debut in 'Dum Maro Dum', may be seen with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt within the movie, releasing May 18.

He may be upbeat concerning the action sequences within the film.

"'Department' is a heavy-duty action film. I trained so much for it, and the educational was just within the gym. It had so much to do with martial arts, and that i easily had 10 to fifteen action sequences. So it was fun," said the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile he has also been excited about the dubbing of Telugu film 'Naa Ishtam', during which he's paired opposite the recently-married Genelia D'Souza.

"I play a young, brash boy in 'Naa Ishtam' very different from 'Department', wherein each line that my character says, is measured. 'Naa Ishtam' is a commercial project. I'M playing my age, and it was wonderful to work with Genelia. She is much more matured than I am, but we had a really perfect time," said the actor, who enjoys the varied content offered to him.

"I made an unconventional debut with 'Dum Maro Dum'. As a launch film, it was different versus others, who would opt for a romantic project. So I'M happy," he added.

The filmmaker recently got choreographer Ganesh Acharya to shoot the Dan Dan number with Indo-Brazilian hottie, Nathalia Kaur, who was also a calendar girl.

Apparently, Sanjay Dutt strongly recommended her for the song, while the filmmaker was inquisitive about shooting it along with his latest muse, Madhu Shalini.

While RGV has shot another song with MS, it sort of feels he's impressed with Nathalia as he hasn't haven't seen some other girl with more expressions along side an angel-like body! Phew!

Akshara says no to Mani Ratnam

Akshara says no to Mani RatnamIt's not always concerning the family, and Mani Ratnam is learning this the hard way. The South filmmaker has apparently been eager to launch his young cousin-in-law Akshara Haasan in a film, but to no avail.

The 21-year-old daughter of South superstar Kamal Haasan and Sarika has politely turned down Mani's offer and has decided to be informed filmmaking instead.

Says Kamal, "I DO NOT know why Akshara turned down the give you. can't question a 21- year-old. It's her decision.

I've never imposed my will on either of my two daughters. They're free to do what they need to with their lives. Akshara, I suspect, will follow my route, ranging from behind the camera after which making her option to front of the camera."

Mani is married to Kamal's older brother Charu Haasan's daughter Suhasini. This refusal would have surely come as a blow to the maverick, given his last film Raavan starring Aishwariya and Abhishek Bachchan flopped.

The film he had in mind for Akshara's launch, in keeping with sources, was not a standard love story for the youth market. To be fair, Akshara up to now been learning the ropes of filmmaking and not using a apparent interest in facing the camera like her older sibling Shruti, who was doing Tamil and Hindi films for many years now.

Says a source, "Akshara seems content behind the camera despite getting quite a few plum acting offers, but Mani is adamant. He's very keen to launch Akshara as a number one lady, and has made the offer many times."

For now, of course, Mani must cool his heels till the headstrong girl gives in to his demand. He'll have a tricky time convincing her though, given she doesn't need to work together with her father's production house either.

"When Akshara decided she desired to learn filmmaking, we decided she wouldn't assist any of our home productions. There would've been an excessive amount of pampering at the sets. She assisted Rahul Dholakia instead. Now she's free to transport ahead in whatever direction she wants," says Kamal.

Prithviraj’s Hindi woes; Rani helps

Prithviraj`s Hindi woes; Rani helpsHe could be a star down South, but Prithviraj is facing some trouble together with his first actual film in Bollywood. The Kerala-based star who's making his debut opposite Rani Mukerji in Aiyaa is seemingly finding is tricky to be told his Hindi lines considering the actor isn't too accustomed to the language.

Says a source, "Prithvi is fluent in his mother tongue Tamil and naturally English, but Hindi doesn't really come naturally to him. The script isn't too tough, considering the language may be very colloquial, but yet there are occasions when he has to sit for hours together to get the lines right."

This apparently has ended in the director doing away with special rehearsal time for the actor.

Adds the source, "Prithvi desires to get it absolutely right and he doesn't need to compromise at the language. Though it's yet to be decided if his voice could be dubbed or not, he's giving it his best."

Interestingly we hear that co-star Rani was patient and helps him out too.

"Rani makes fun of him and his accent sometimes. They have got become quite friendly though."

This undoubtedly is a dream entry for the star into the sector of Hindi cinema, considering not many South actors except Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal and Madhavan have made it big within the Hindi cinema space.

Adds the source, "When Prithviraj got this offer there has been no reason behind him to refuse. He was being cast opposite Rani Mukerji and he was planning to make the move from the South to Bollywood since a very long time. So he's trying very hard to suit in."

Esha Gupta kept under wraps

Esha Gupta kept under wrapsThe component to surprise at the present time in Bollywood seems to became the debutant. Following within the footsteps of Nargis Fakhri, who was kept 'under wraps' by filmmaker Imitiaz Ali before the discharge of Rockstar, is Esha Gupta.

The newbie -- who has just finished shooting for Jannat 2 and has begun shooting for an additional Bhatt production Raaz 3 -- has apparently been asked to maintain a low profile till the discharge of both films.

Says a source, "The producers have advised Esha to stick clear of the media as they're keen that her first look hits the screens before she starts making public appearances and giving interviews."

Her spokesperson confirms that she was asked to keep up a low profile till her movies release. The production team has apparently ensured that visitors are kept off the sets, and Raaz 3 director Vikram Bhatt is to ensure that things go consistent with plans.

Esha's costume designers and hair and make-up team have also been told to stick tight-lipped in regards to the actress in addition to her look within the films.

Incidentally, Esha had replaced Jacqueline Fernandez in Raaz 3 after the latter decided to opt out of doing steamy scenes for the project (apparently on the behest of her 'good friend' director Sajid Khan).

The Bhatts aren't known to be reticent within the industry and withhold information. But they're now keen to divulge nothing greater than necessary with a purpose to keep that surprise element for the audience.

Several filmmakers have followed this path after they have launched new comers and now they're following too. Let's just hope the 'surprise' this time is definitely worth the wait!

In the past... Many filmmakers have issued diktats to newcomers to stick clear of attention till the film releases...

Director Imtiaz Ali didn't want swimsuit model Nargis Fakhri who he launched in Rockstar to be in media glare. But her public appearances with co-star Ranbir Kapoor made the filmmaker's plans come to naught. The director had apparently then given the newbie a stern warning.

Imtiaz Ali had also gone to great lengths to cover his Love Aaj Kal second lead, Brazilian babe Giselli Monteiro till the film's release. She, too, was issued a warning by the filmmaker to stick clear of the press.

Yash Raj kept their Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi girl Anushka Sharma under wraps till the movie was able to hit the marquee.

Similarly their Band Baaja Baraat find Ranveer Singh, too, was evaded prying eyes till the film released to surprise the audience.

Earlier Sanjay Leela Bhansali also had issued diktats to Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor to maintain a low-profile till their debut flick Saawariyaa released.
