Salman Khan`s wax figure coming to Big apple

Salman Khan`s wax figure coming to New York
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will join fellow stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan within the "Bollywood Zone" of wax figures at Madame Tussauds museum in Big apple Aug 2.

Salman Khan, who burst onto the scene together with his award-performance in "Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989", is one in all Bollywood's most bankable actors.

His latest film, "Bodyguard", has become the second one highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. In 2004, People magazine named Khan the seventh best-looking man within the world.

"Salman Khan is considered one of Bollywood's most enduring and recognizable stars, " said Bret Pidgeon, general manager of Madame Tussauds Ny. "Bollywood exploded at the American popular culture scene several years ago and has become certainly one of our most fun entertainment categories."

Madame Tussauds New York's Bollywood Zone is a brightly-coloured, fully-interactive area that features a replica of the Taj Mahal, videos of authentic Indian dancers and a photograph area where visitors can pose with Bollywood stars, all designed to re-create the experience of being on a Bollywood film.

Over the approaching years, Madame Tussauds plans to expand the realm to incorporate figures of different prominent Bollywood stars.

Khan's figure, on loan for 3 months from Madame Tussauds London, was launched in January 2008, after Khan beat nine other Indian mega-stars - including Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Lata Mangeshkar and Abhishek Bachchan - in an August 2007 public poll to select the following" Bollywood Star" that will get a wax likeness.
