Ronit Roy gives up drinking to get into ogle-worthy shape For Rishi Kapoor
That Rishi Kapoor plays a gay dean who’s drawn to the sports coach in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, is a narrative we broke some months ago. What comes as surprise is Ronit’s dedication to getting the a part of the lust-object dead right.
Ronit has given up drinking completely to get into perfect shape for a series shot in Thailand earlier this month where Rishi’s character was to ogle at Ronit.The sequence was shot as a part of the leading man Varun Dhawan’s elder brother’s wedding in Koh Samui.
(Interestingly Varun Dhawan’s real-life brother Rohit got married in February. Playing a man whose elder bro gets married made Varun quite nostalgic.)
When contacted Ronit seemed shy of discussing the sequence.
“Yes, it was a scene where I, the sports coach, play volleyball with my students at the beach in Koh Samui while Chintuji’s character ogles at me.
It was crucial for me to have an ogle-worthy physique. But while the scholars are bare- bodied I'VE a baniyan (vest) on.” says Ronit who has an outstanding physique and spent 2 years of his life as Aamir Khan’s security guard.
However Ronit insists that the off-drinks policy for Student Of The Year was not just dictated by the ogle-quotient required of his physique.
Says Ronit, “I play a sports coach and i'm constantly with people younger and fitter than me like Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra, etc.So it was important for me to appear my fittest.Also, since I USED TO BE playing a teacher it seemed immoral to drink at the job.”
