When Vidya Balan almost died

When Vidya Balan almost diedSujoy Ghosh saved the actress on the nick of time as she almost fell onto the Metro rail tracks in Kolkata while they shot for 'Kahaani'.

Vidya Balan almost fell at the tracks while shooting for her upcoming release, Kahaani at a Kolkata metro station. Fortunately, the director Sujoy Ghosh came to her rescue and saved her from falling onto the tracks.

Recalling the incident Ghosh says, "AFTER WE were shooting we had security guards around the platform. It went pitch perfect, not a single thing out of place.

While we were paying attention, amidst all this, the one person we forgot was Vidya (laughs). But she is an adult. She is meant to deal with herself. There has been a scene where she was running backwards at the platform.

She bumped against a weighing balance. She tripped and was about to fall onto the tracks. Considering that she was about to fall, we immediately rushed to her. When she acts, she acts and forgets everything else."

Ghosh says, "THERE HAS BEEN nothing heroic about it. Since I USED TO BE behind the camera I'LL see what was going to happen. I just had the short sight to hurry and save her from falling."

So did the incident cause an interruption? The director explains, "Balan is like 'Oh cool I got saved, lets come back at the job.'"

"You take numerous precautions for people but you're taking your personal folk with no consideration. We took the precaution for everyone else. We just forgot Balan," he adds.

He signs off saying, "Kahani was shot in real time. We shot during Durga Puja. If you find yourself shooting in real time, you shoot with real individuals who have no idea what is going on. Certainly one of our challenges was to be on our greatest behaviour."
